Competences of Educators and Teachers to Recognize and Develop Musical Talent
Early childhood is considered to be the most important for stimulation and development of child’s inherent musical potential. Consequently, early childhood is equally important for early identification of special musical giftedness that manifests itself earlier than it does in other areas. Besides the family environment, the most important factor in its recognition, further development and encouragement are the educators and teachers of primary education. In this paper we will present a research aimed at identifying the opinions of educators and primary school teachers about their own musical competences, competences for the recognition of music-gifted children of pre-school and early school age, the role of teachers and educators in further encouragement and development of the musical potential of gifted children and environment effect on music-gifted children. The results of the carried out research will be a significant guideline for further improvement of the educational practice, particularly in terms of improving the competences of educators and teachers for the recognition, encouragement and further development of musical giftedness of children of preschool and primary school age.
