Significance of the Journal Jugoslavenski tekstilni vjesnik / Tekstilni vjesnik (1927-1945)

It is little known that the only textile journal in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was regularly printed in Zagreb, Croatia, from 1927 to 1941 under the title "Yugoslav Textile News" and in NDH from 1941 to 1945 “Textile News”. The journal of “interested parties in textile” was published regularly once a month, with the exception of 1930 to 1932 when it was published every two weeks. The journal was called News, because it regularly reported on the state of the markets, the development of the textile industry at home and in the world, handed over official notices, customs and tax regulations, industry news, reports from industrial assemblies, news from the textile merchant meetings, news from the exhibitions or textile fairs. Professional papers have also been published in the field of textiles technology, the number of which increased in the last years. In the first years there is a lot of papers on hemp and flax cultivation and production of domestic wool and cotton. It is significant that about 25% of the articles and advertisements were published in German language as a result of the strong development of the textile industry after the First World War when many experts came from other parts of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and knew German well.
