The Right to Display Place Names in Regional or Minority Languages within the Council of Europe Legal Framework

Linguistic rights of the members of national minorities are considered to be part of the general human rights protection. Nevertheless, the display of signage in a particular minority language has no equivalent in individual human rights. In addition, it is often a very important indication of the acceptance of the minority by the majority population.
