The paper deals with the representation of Turkish loanwords (Turkism’s) in Old Perkovci Speech vernacular as a protected vernacular of Slavonian dialect in the Republic of Croatia. Slavonian dialect is one of the most archaic dialects of the Croatian language. It is spoken in the Republic of Croatia in Slavonia and Baranja regions, but across borders in the border area in the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary as well. Turkish loanwords in the Slavonian dialect are omnipresent and vivid back from the time of the Ottoman Empire until today. The use of Turkish loanwords is still intense and they, as loanwords in the English language, make a lexical layer of the active lexis in the conversational language in Slavonia and Baranja. The paper will show the Turkish loanwords frequency, and they will be divided according to the meaningful fields of use. Croatian lexicology, dialectology and sociolinguistics, will benefit from the paper.
