CMS Physics : Technical Design Report Volume 1: Detector Performance and Software

The Large Hadron Collider will provide extraordinary opportunities in particle physics based on its unprecedented collision energy and luminosity when it begins operation in 2007. The principal aim of this Technical Design Report is to present the strategy of CMS to explore the rich physics program offered by the LHC: Volume 1 covering the operational procedures and reconstruction tools necessary to perform physics at the LHC, and Volume 2 demonstrating the physics capability of the CMS experiment based on this foundation.
