Carpe Diem! Primary school students (grades 1-4) from the county of Međimurje

In their article entitled "Carpe diem!" in one-teacher education students", a group of authors has presented the results of their research study (Nessebar, Bulgaria, 2017.) showing what it means for the children belonging to the Romani minority (N=31) to seize their day. In this article, the same authors investigate and analyze answers of non-Romani children (N = 50) of the same age from the same region of the Republic of Croatia. The starting point for the authors was the fact that adults try to make use of their day (Carpe diem!) in order to achieve some happiness in the broadest sense, i.e. well-being. As each time period has its own specific values, the preoccupation of younger generations with productivity and consumerism, the side effects of trade globalism, is reflected here as well. The authors were seeking the answer to the question "What do you do when you are not doing nothing?" i.e. "What do you do after school?" and tried to find out whether or not the respondents would give any clues as to possible social tendencies (production and consumption). Having analyzed the data, the authors have come to the conclusion that the surveyed population of children show signs of their orientation towards consumerism and the achievements of a modern way of life, as well as that in their aspirations they are not restricted by the environment in which they grew up, i.e. away from large centres, all this suggesting the extent to which the media are sensitizing the public. Authors have concluded that contemporary communication tools affect children from the earliest age, thus forming their ideals.

U članku pod naslovom "Carpe diem!" s učenicima u osnovnoškolskom obrazovanju, predstavila je skupina autora rezultate njihovog istraživanja (Nessebar, Bugarska, 2017.) koji pokazuju što to znači za djecu pripadnika romske manjine (N = 31) iskoristiti dan. U ovom članku istražuju i analiziraju isti autori odgovore neromske djece (N = 50) iste dobi iz iste regije. Polazište za autore bila je činjenica da odrasli pokušavaju iskoristiti svoj dan (Carpe diem!) kako bi se postigla neka sreća u najširem smislu, tj. blagostanje. Kao i svako ljudsko vrijeme ima svoje specifične vrijednosti, preokupacija mlađih generacija produktivnošću i konzumerizmom, također se odražavaju i ovdje. Autori su tražili odgovor na pitanje "Što radite kad ništa ne radiš?" tj. "Što radiš nakon škole?" i pokušali su pronaći da li bi ispitanici dali bilo kakve naznake o mogućim društvenim tendencijama (proizvodnja, potrošnja i drugo).
