Interactions between calcite and selected oligopeptides and their functional derivatives
The interfacial interactions between calcite crystals of different morphologies and selected oligopeptides and/or their derivatives with salicylic acid (Sal) have been investigated. The results of the crystal growth kinetics data indicated the consistent increase of the extent of the adsorption (Kad) of the Asp derivatives onto the rhombohedral calcite: Sal-(Gly)4-L-Asp-D-Asp-L-Asp > Sal-Gly-L-Asp-D-Asp-L-Asp > Sal-L-Asp-D-Asp-L-Asp > L-Asp-D-Asp-L-Asp > Asp-Asp > Asp. The system(s) can be considered as a model for mineral drug delivery of anti-inflammatory drugs.
