Topology in Eastern Europe, 1900 - 1950,
The paper gives an account of the development of topology in Eastern Europe between 1900 and 1950. The exposition is by countries where research as well as events relevant for the development of research took place and where the main protagonists were predominantly active or where they came from. Under Eastern Europe are understood areas which during the period between the two World Wars belonged to Poland, USSR, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey, ordered by the approximative dates of the appearence of the first organized forms (seminars) of research in topology.
