Policies and Regulations in the Forming of Late- Medieval Trogir (Croatia)
In this chapter we define one social group of medieval Trogir commune as the most responsible for the urban form. It was patricians, the wealthiest and the only allowed to be the members of the council, who compiled the regulations, created the institutions for their implementation, and were responsible for the introduction of the new styles. Despite constantly changing political circumstances and the fact that they were gradually losing political power, their role regarding the preservation of the existing layout and order as well as the further embellishment of the urban form persisted for centuries.
