Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union: What Does It Mean for the Reagional Policy in Croatia?
The paper deals with the potential implications of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) on Croatian regional policy. It discusses the nature of the SAA and elaborates the achievemnt in it's implementation. The SAA covers important aspects of regional development &#8211 ; ; legislation related to competition policy and state aid in particular, regional statistics and territorial classification. Implementation of SAA marks the beginning of a systematic work on the adjustment to the EU standards in regional policy of Croatia. It concludes that the precondition for the adjustments is twofold: (i) the preparation of national strategy of regional development harmonised with the EU regional policy and (ii) coordination the regional policy with the other policies that influence spatial development (industrial, agricultural, tourist and transport policy and linking them with the policy of employment).
