Towards in vitro verification of a hormone mediated feed-back mechanism of tumor growth
In this paper authors review their dana which led them to formulate a hypothesis of a hormonal mechanism of the self control of tumor growth and discuss briefly the first in vitro experiments designed to confirm the hypothesis and to elaborate ways of control and modulation of this mechanism. Authors postulated that the insulin-like substance secreting tumors establish a positive feed-back, self control of their growth. According to this idea tumor secretes insulin-like substances which induces blood sugar fluctuations, which, in turn, stimulate growth hormone release in blood. Elevated levels of circulating growth hormone stimulate tumor proliferation and close the positive feed-back loop.
