Neutron Pair Emission Following the Capture of negative Pions in 14N
A first study of the reaction 14N(π−, 2n)12C at rest is reported. The nucleon pair quantum numbers favoured in the absorption process are deduced. The excitation spectrum of the residual 12C nucleus differs from the one obtained through the (π+, 2p) reaction.
