Foreign Direct Investment in the Transition of the Croatian Economy
Positive experience concerning the influence of foreign direct investments upon the economic growth and integration process of the European Union should be used by the Republic of Croatia for its own economic development and quicker inclusion into the European integration flows. The insignificant volume of direct foreign investments in Croatia is largely the consequence of the wartime danger which was present, but it is, in part, also the consequence of the incorrect policy concerning foreign direct investments. If Croatia is to use foreign direct investments for the implementation of its development aims, the country has to take a clear-cut and positive stand concerning foreign direct investments, and must have a transparent legislation easily understandable to foreign investors, a simple and short realization procedure of the investor's intent, and the country must also, without fail, use incentives for the attraction of foreign investors.
