Last 40 years of the past century was time when flax i.e. its production and culture was neglected in Croatia. Such circumstances resulted in the extermination of more than 20 different Croatian autochthonous flax cultivar. Having in mind that flax fibres were significant part of our cultural heritages and that natural fibre are in fashion again, a need for reviving flax production seams meaningful. With the aim to revitalise flax fibres production based on principles of sustainable development research project financed by Croatian Ministry of Science, Technology and Sport was started few years ago. |
