Faculty of Textile Technology and Faculty of Agriculture researchers, University of Zagreb, have joined in a mission, the aim of which is to renew the flax production in Croatia and to define and to improve the quality of flax fibres. The cultivars of fibre flax Viola and Viking grown on the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture of Zagreb on anthropogenized eutric cambisol and on the experimental field of the College of Agriculture of Krizevci on pseudoglay using the standard agro technique were selected for testing. Technical length and thickness of the stem, the beginning of flowering and of yellow ripening were determined on the plant, while fibre length, fineness, degree of resolution and chemical composition of the samples were tested on samples. Through determination of the interdependence of the properties of the plant and flax fibres the knowledge about the influence of agroecological conditions on the plant and flax fibres was acquired. |
