The work particularly highlights the importance of shifting from the traditional approach to education towards a social constructionist perspective and a competency approach. As pertaining to the reconstruction of tertiary curricula, we advocate the idea of new professionalism as a qualitative breakthrough in the contemporary perception of the profession of an educator in early childhood and preschool education. For these reasons, we advocate students/future educators to be educated as researchers of actual learning processes and creators of knowledge in an institutional context. |
