This paper investigates modal parameters estimation methods using modeFrontier software. First, finite element model was developed and modal parameters obtained. Then, experiment is performed and frequency response function (FRF) is measured by impact test. Modal parameters can be identified from measured FRF. In this paper modal parameters such as natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping factors are obtained from measured FRF using peak amplitude method. This method is quick and results obtained this way are used as starting points for curve fitting. Curve fitting is done using modeFrontier optimization methods, such as simplex and genetic algorithm. Modal parameters obtained this way are compared with modal parameters obtained by finite element method. |
