Location and date: Split, Hrvatska, 23-24.11.2009.
Keywords: dynamic analysis, partially submerged structures, added mass
Abstract:
Natural frequencies of cantilever beam partially submerged in water are investigated. Influence of water on the beam is numerically simulated through effect of virtual (added) mass. The difference between natural frequencies in the air and in the water, which is obtained this way, is compared with experimental one. Experimental natural frequencies are obtained by performing impact test and measuring frequency response functions. Possibility of determining the depth of immersion beam is shown using residual force method.
