Bentoska flora Makarskog područja (srtednji Jadran, Hrvatska)
A checklist of the marine benthic flora of Makarska region (Middle Adriatic) was compiled on the basis of personal collections and sparse bibliographical data. The list includes 325 specific and intraspecific taxa of algae (195 Rhodophyta, 72 Phaeophyta, 58 Chlorophyta) and 3 species of seagrasses, of which 200 are reported from this region for the first time. The R/P ratio of 2.7 (FELDMANN 1937) and R+C/P ratio of 3.5 (CHENEY 1977) both indicate a warm-temperate flora. Most determined benthic algae and seagrasses belong to the Atlantic (114 taxa or 34.7 %), cosmopolitan and subcosmopolitan (70 taxa or 21.4 %) and Mediterranean (68 taxa or 20.7 %) phytogeographic region. The rest of 76 taxa belong to the following phytogeographic regions: Atlantic-Pacific (25 taxa or 7.6 %), Indo-Atlantic (19 taxa or 5.8 %), circumtropical (14 taxa or 4.3 %), endemic-Adriatic (13 taxa or 4.0 %), circumboreal (3 taxa or 0.9 %) and Indo-Pacific (2 taxa or 0.6 %) (Table 1).
