Comparison of Gear Tooth-Root Stresses Obtained by Different Numerical Models
Maximum tensile spur gear tooth-root stress determined by use of numerical models based upon 2D and 3D approach, and calculated by means of different methods, has been the subject of the analysis. The comparison has been made of the obtained stress results and nominal tooth-root stress values according to the standard ISO 6336-3. From the standpoint of the gear geometrical parameters, such are the number of teeth, rim thickness and tooth facewidth, the derived conclusions can faciliate the choice of adequate spur gear numerical model.
