Precipitation of niobium in the final high-temperature thermomechanical treatment
The paper deals with the results of niobium solving and precipitating in the course of thermomechanical treatment of microalloyed steel. Electrolytic isolation, X-ray phase analysis and transmission electron microscopy were applied to determine the change of niobium precipitation degree, type and share of precipitates, as well as nucleation and growth of precipitation across the phases of the final thermomechanical treatment. The degree of precipitation of niobium carbon-nitrides initiates strong increase of induced precipitation. Nucleation of these precipitates occurs at dislocations inside the grain. Niobium carbides and niobium nitrides were identified. Their arrangement and size are connected with recrystallization and recovery mechanisms at the final stage of thermomechanical treatment.
