The identification of marine diesel engine process for diagnostic purpose by means of experiment and simulation
The paper deals with the identification of 2-stroke marine diesel engine process. Two methods used: one based on experimental data and other on simulation data. The practical and cost effective solution for direct on-line cylinder pressure measurement on marine diesel engine test bed has been given and a part of the results are presented for large ship's propulsion engine of type MAN B&W. Practical experiments were done during engine testing procedure on test bed in shipyard Split. The other effective method for engine process identification, especially in faulty condition, is simulation one. The simulation example with a scenario of faulty condition in negine cylinder is analysed within real ship's propulsion plant simulator "Norcontrol PPS2000".
