Correlation Between Short-Term, Long-Term Static and Creep Resistance Characteristics of Tungsten and Tungsten Base Alloys at High Temperatures
The authors studied the regularities in the variation of the characteristics of short-term, long-term static strength at short test durations and creep resistance in the temperature range from 770 to 2270 K, as well as mechanisms of plastic deformation and fracture modes for commercially pure tungsten (99, 97 wt. % W) and tungsten base alloys of the systems W-HfC-HfO2 with dispersion hardening produced by powder metallurgy methods. Correlation relationships have been established among the mechanical characteristics of tungsten and tungsten base alloys, which allow accelerated evaluation and prediction of the characteristics of long-term static strengths and creep resistance of materials from the results of short-term test.
