Relationship between knitting parameters and properties of a plain knitted fabric
Knitting is a complex dynamic process. To produce a quality product, it is necessary to carefully project the knitted fabric. The parameters that determine the construction and properties of the knitted fabric are: structure and properties of the fibres and yarns, structure of the fabric and technological process of knitting. Inner tensions in curved yarn loops are created in the production process because of delivery yarn tension, yarn irregularity, impulsive loading, knitting speed and fabric take off, which results in fabric deformation. Based on the analysis of achieved results of the research on the influence of knitting parameters on structural and mechanical properties of the knitted fabric it can be concluded that also the right choice and setting of knitting parameters is important for planning and production of high-quality knitwear. Knitting parameters directly influence the structural and mechanical properties of knitted fabric and are therefore of the same importance as the selection of the appropriate yarn.
