Jedna rezbarska radionica 17. stoljeća u Istri
Thiss essay proposes a single workshop as a common point of origin for the analysis of the six altars preservd in the chirches of the northeastern Istria. Their common origin is indicated through number of common features and similarity of their architecture, ornaments and sculpture.it has been noticed that the statues had been made by two masters, one of which, the author of the statue of St. Peter, is more outstanding. Hypotheses concerning the origin of the workshop, which was probably not local, were also put forward. Its master had been influenced by the tradition of the Late Italian Renaissance, and Istria belongs to its greater regionsBased on the political-geographical and social context, a hypothesis that the worshop came to this area from some lager center under Austria n rule (Ljubljana or Rijeka) was put forward. Comparing our altars with the contemporary production of wooden altars in the greater region, the existance of the stylistic anachronism characteristic of provincial wokrshops has been established.
