Repair of the Zagreb cathedral ornamental concrete elements
Zagreb cathedral foundations were laid on the present locality in the 11th century. From its beginning to our days, cathedral was restored several times. At the time of the reconstruction in the year 1968, some of the north tower ornamental elements were made from reinforced concrete. According to visual inspection and detailed laboratory investigations nowadays it was concluded that carbonation of the concrete cover caused reinforcement corrosion. Repair work of the ornamental elements was based on the results of laboratory testing and life time calculation.
