Transformations of the Optical Appearance of Colours

The content of the research refers to the information transfer quality in the visual communications system. In this study characteristic combinations of contrast colour have been observed in dependence on different backgrounds, as well as the differences of the visual perception of colours depending on the viewing distance from the visual form. The results have shown that the legibility of the visual form can be enhanced by influencing the simultaneous colour contrast. The solution is to choose the neutral background as the information carrier and to specify the gap between the colours of the visual form. This study has contributed to the legibility of the visual form. Correct choice of colours in the visual communication systems enables us to achieve undisturbed and noiseless transfer of information between the carrier and the receiver, which is a particular field of graphic design represented by the poster design.
