Behavioral genetics research in Europe. Symposium introduction
This symposium has two main aims: First, to address methodological advances in behavior genetic studies of personality, ability and behavior problems. The second aim is to present applications of these techniques in ongoing quantitative genetic studies. The contributions in the symposium are characterized by the inclusion of longitudinal data and multiple sources of information, the use of multivariate analytic techniques, the assessment of constructs that have rarely been studied in genetically informative samples, analyses addressing genetic-environment interaction, and by the use of samples ranging from childhood to late adulthood. Bringing together unique contributions from research groups all over Europe collaborating in international networks, the symposium seeks to demonstrate state-of-the-art behavior genetic research addressing both developmentally relevant as well as methodologically challenging psychological content.
