Psychosocial aspects of inflammatory bowel disease
Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease are two main forms of inflammatory bowel diseases. There has only recently been an interest in the psychosocial aspects of IBD.The aim of this study was to investigate the disease specific health related quality of life (HRQOL)and it's relation to emotional lability (anxiety and depression)in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Our results although limited by the small sample size of the study, indicate that depression and anxiety are related with various aspects of health related quolity of life in patients with IBD and that should deserve more consideration in the clinical treatment of those patients.
