Tectonostratigraphic units and terranes between the Adriatic Sea and the southern Pannonian Basin
In the area between the Adriatic Sea and the Southern Pannonian Basin, covering mainly the northwestern and central Dinarides, seven terranes and/or units are identified which can be grouped into three megaunits: 1) The Supradinaricum (internal Dinarides) composite terrane which includes five terranes and/or units which originated in the basinal parts of the Mesozoic Tethys; 2) The Adriatic-Dinaridic carbonate platform (the external Dinarides), genetically related to the Tethyan southern (passive) margin; 3) The Banija-Central Bosnia unit, located between the two above mentioned terranes, represents the southeastern extension of the Sava nappe, i.e. the southern Alps.
Dinarides; terranes: Moslavina-Slavonija; Hrvatsko Zagorje-Međimurje; Dinaride ophiolite belt; Neretva-Sarajevo-Banjaluka; Posavina and Central Bosnia units
