Stimuli context effect on simple reaction time: the importance o preparatory interval.
The objective of the experiment was to examine additionally the basis of the influence of the stimulus context to the simple reaction time. An attempt was made to determine the existence or non-existence of this influence in situations with different participants' readinees to the reaction. In this way we tried to find out whether the influence of the stimulus context is related to the motor stage of stimulus processing. Three groups of participants dook part in the experiment. For each group there was a different readiness to the reaction and the existenc e of a possible influence of the context. The results revealed that the influence of the length of preparatory intervals (different readiness) to the reaction time does not depend on the influence of the stimulus context. This suggests that the influence of the stimulus context on the reaction time very rarely depends on the motor stage of stimulus processing.
