Antioxidative capacity and vasodilatatory activity of strawberry leaves extract

Introduction. Consumption of strawberries has been associated with several beneficial effects of human health. Most studies have been focused on the strawberry fruit, due to its high content of bioactive phytochemicals, most notably polyphenols. However, strawberry leaves as a potential source of bio-potent polyphenols has been largely overlooked. The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidative and vasodilatatory activities of strawberry leaves (Fragariae herba folium) extract. This study indicates that strawberry leaves are valuable source of bioactive phytochemicals with potentially beneficial effects on cardiovascular system.
