Adequacy of spherical structure of interests according to age and gender: Validation of Personal Globe Inventory in Croatian samples
Spherical model of interests (Tracey & Rounds, 1996 ; Tracey 1997 ; Tracey, 2002) is recently proposed model of vocational interests' structure. According to the model there are 18 vocational interest types that are organized in a sphere and that differ according to the type of work and prestige. The measure of the spherical model of interests is Personal Globe Inventory (Tracey, 2002). Personal Globe Inventory was translated into Croatian, and in this work its proposed spherical structure is examined. The instrument was administered to a sample of approximately 1600 respondents, differing according to age (primary school students, secondary school students, and university students) and gender. Good internal consistency and adequate group differences in all interest scales were confirmed. Hubert and Arabie's (1987) randomization test was applied to examine the spherical structure of interests. The Correspondence Indices confirm that spherical model fits well the interest structure of all participants, regardless their age or gender. According to the results, Croatian version of Personal Globe Inventory has retained its merit as a powerful tool for the interest assessment.
