Participation of Croatia as a Western-Balkan country in European scenarios about energy and greenhouse gas emissions
Today the environment is in the focus of not only Croatian professional community but also of the general public. Croatia's status as the EU Candidate country and the fact that the environment will be a serious topic in the accession negotiations will bring numerous additional obligations and demands for the Croatian energetic sector. Total energy consumption in Croatia has been increasing steadily since 1992., but the total energy consumption per capita is still 46.6% lower than in the EDU 15. In Croatia renewable electricity accounted 51% of total electricity needs in Croatia in 2004, and the aim is to sustain and even increase its share, as environmentally sustainable and CO2 emission low energy.
