Physical development and motor fitness off 4 years old children

Measurements of anthropometric characteristics and motor abilities were conducted on girls and boys at the age of four. The aim of the research was to check the extent to which girls and boys at the age of four differ in their anthropometric characteristics and motor skills. Three tests were used to evaluate anthropometric characteristics, body height, body weight and circumference of the forearm and three tests for the evaluation of motor skills, long jump without the run, forward bend with spread legs and arm tapping. Using multivariate analysis of variances the statistical significance between girls and boys at the age of four was calculated in their anthropometric characteristics with 3F40=6, 08, and probability error p=0, 0016, while using the same analysis there was no statistical significance in the difference among groups in motor tests at the level p=0, 05. The most important differences between girls and boys in individual characteristics were identified by a univariant analysis of variance in height and weight, but not in the circumference of the forearm. This proves the knowledge about the more intensive growth of boys at that age and the initial differentiation of girls and boys with reference to the mentioned characteristics. A significant differentiation in motor skills was not detected.
