During 2004 a detailed research of the state of three bird species’ population (White-throated Dipper Cinclus cinclus, Pied Wagtail Motacilla alba and Gray Wagtail Motacilla cinerea) was conducted on 450 km streams of Nature Park Medvednica of which less then 200 km turned out to be inhabited with researched species. In 2005 the first monitoring of these species’ populations was conducted. For the purpose of increase of population, bird houses were built for White-throated Dipper. The research was done by the Institute of Ornithology (Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts), by request from the Public institution “ Nature Park Medvednica” . After monitoring human interventions and connecting those with changes in bird populations’ preconditions were done for implementing the most efficient protection through Park’ s management plan. |
