This publication is an attempt of a new generation of cultural studies scholars to react to what they see as a crisis of cultural studies in a contemporary context. The common goal is to find new directions for cultural studies in order for the discipline to again gain its innovative importance it once carried. In order to do that, it has to cope with contemporary phenomenon to which old interests, debates and practices can no longer be applied. The contributors of this work have, in diverse and challenging manners, proposed such new directions. Thus, for all of you who care for the continuation of the actuality of cultural studies and for those who are interested to get an overview of the bridging between the ‘ old’ tradition of cultural studies and possible ‘ new’ directions placed within a broad framework of contemporary theoretical paradigms and practices, this is a recommended reading. |
