Stress Analysis of Thin-Rimmed Gears by Use of 3D Models
The field of involute spur gear stress investigation was extended by use of three-dimensional Finite Element Method models. The attention was devoted to the stress values at the loaded tooth fillets, as well as to the stress that occures at the bottoms (roots). The obtained values of the stresses were compared, considering various actual gear size, the rim thickness and the tooth facewidth. The results of three-dimensional numerical approach like two-dimensional ones, pointed to the possibility of the gear fatigue strength reduction.
