Advantages and limitations of the SCW charge pump

This paper presents the advantages and limitations of the SCW charge pump (Cockcroft-Walton charge pump modified by using switched capacitors technique). SCW charge pump shows great improvement in driving capacitive and low current loads, but it also generates more oveerstress voltage to each consecutive stage added to the charge pump. The power copnsumption of the added MOSFETs, needed to ensure the switched operating mode, is taken into consideration, and its impact on charge pumps output characteristics is shown. The SCW charge pump is compared with the CW (Cockcroft-Walton) charge pump.
