Some Issues Concerning the Ontology Development Process

Numerous directions and new areas of ontology and Semantic Web development are opening various questions about possibilities they offer. In our paper several directions will be discussed regarding: (a) expressing constraints in ontologies using first order logic and description logic, (b) complexity of ontology extension both in depth (for example, from domain ontology to application ontology) and in width (broadening of the domain), and (c) usage of combination of various ontology evaluation methods. Paper presents one part of the work on the project "Development of information infrastructure and deductive mechanisms of Semantic Web", funded by Ministry of science, education and sport in Croatia.
