The paper deals with communication interfaces and communication protocols of proprietary control units used in rail vehicles such are tramcars, locomotives and trains. Standardized communication busses enable easier integration of the equipment produced by different manufacturers. The article discusses several possible solutions to implement communication infrastructure in the vehicle and gives the explanation why certain solutions were chosen in described cases. The main focus is to connect real-life experience, gained from two industry projects, with research activities and international standards. The concept of communication infrastructure of low-floor tramcar is shown along with experiences gained during more than 4 years of exploitation. The second real-life case, the project of city and regional train communication infrastructure that is still in development phase is also presented. |
