Professional competencies for sociopedagogical interventions - working with risk and reinforcing resilience
Social pedagogues work with different population who are in risk of developing behavioral disorders or already manifest various individually and socially harmful behavior. Since the origins of behavioral disorders are very complex in their etiology, all interventions are multidimensional and require broad spectrum of knowledge and skills. In accordance to the folloeing, education of social pedagogues is interdisciplinary and multidisciplionary, integrating knowledge from different social sciences - pedagogy, psychology, medicine, criminology, penology, legal sciences ect. The ain of this paper is to examine professional competencies of social pedagogues who work in the Republic of Croatia in different public sectors - social welfare system, justice system, health system, educational system and nongovernmental sector. The research was conducted on a sample of 194 social pedagogues as part of the scientific research project "Scientific establishment and development of social pedagogy in the Republic of Croatia" financed by Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport. Results will be presented in the light of various competencies needed for successful professional work regarding different public sectros, types of work and characteristics of interventions in reinforcing resilience of beneficiaries, whether they include individuals, families, different social groups or communities.
