Performance of the Common Structural Rules design formulations for the ultimate strength of uniaxially loaded plates and stiffened panels

The paper deals with application of the nonlinear finite element analysis (NFEA) for collapse assessment of uniaxially loaded plates and stiffened panels of ship structures. The aim of the paper is to determine model extend, boundary conditions, mesh size and initial imperfections appropriate for collapse analysis. Load-end shortening curves of plates and stiffened panels computed by NFEA are compared with those proposed in Common Structural Rules (CSR).
