Interaction Design is one of the newest specializations in the field of design which is closely related to the "new media" and new technologies. It is concerned not only with the products and services, but on how to design/rethink the way in which people interact. Interaction Design is a fast growing and still evolving field which blurs the boundaries between creative disciplines. This paper will describe Interaction Design as a hybrid, evolving, multidisciplinary practice and education field through examples from personal design research, practice and education, and selected relevant works from other authors. The aim of the paper is to consider complexity and the multidisciplinary nature of this field and to contextualize Interaction Design in a contemporary design practice and education. The overview of the basic definitions of this field will be presented, different design approaches will be explained, and the methodology of the design process will be described. Evolution of this field from the specific practice of creating useful and usable products and services for shaping our everyday life through digital artifacts for work and entertainment to the art of creating relationships between people, technology and society will be presented
