GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP IN COOLING MODE
After the ground source heat pump was tested in the heating mode, while running of the system during the winter time, it was operated in the cooling mode during the summer time. The thermocouple temperature sensors that were located along the borehole heat exchanger from 1, 5 to 100 m, contribute to a better interpretation of the thermal processes that occur between the BHE and the ground. A water to air heat pump was installed within the laboratory. The heat pump is equipped with a magnetic flow meter for a glycol-water mixture, a transducer for measuring the compressor electric power, an electronically controlled circulating pump, and several temperature sensors. All sensors are connected to the data acquisition system Agilent, which makes the monitoring and storing of the data possible. The intermittent operation of the GCHP resulted with the decreasing of its cooling capacity, and decreasing of the COP for about 20 to 25 % at the end of operation, compared to the same parameters at the start of system operation. The first results show the significant impact of the GCHP running time duration, as well as the soil local thermal conductivity variation on the soil temperature distribution along the borehole.
