PARASITES OF FARMED SEA BASS (DICENTRARCHUS LABRAX) IN EASTERN ADRIATIC
European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax (Linnaeus, 1758) is together with gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) one of the most important fish species in Croatian aquaculture. Sea bass is somewhat more abundant in Croatian fish farms in contrast to other parts of Mediterranean due to lower sea temperatures. Three sea bass farms were investigated in East Adriatic Sea. Sampling sites were chosen to cover different regions, south, central and north Adriatic. Sampling comprises period from 2005 to 2010 during spring and autumn when total of 360 randomly sampled fish were analysed. Samples for ectoparasite analyses collected from skin and gills were microscopically analysed in situ. Further investigation of endoparasites was made macroscopically during necropsy. During this research bacteriological and virological analysis were also made. Although some of parasites had high prevalence (Diplectanum spp.), economical loss wasn’t detected. Some differences between different investigated regions were detected.
