Food Research in Croatian Ethnology
Ethnological studies of the culture of food in Croatia were conducted with the aid of different approaches and analytical procedures: from the simple colletions of facts about traditional rural dishes, cultural- historical searches for the roots of sertain elements, to contemporary anthropological approaches that percieve food culture within a larger cosial context. Only in recent decades in the work of several scholars do new approach to food culture become evident. This is an approach taht insists on tracking and understanding continuity and change in traditional food culture in social contexts ; furthermore, it takes into accounts gender and regional disparities as well as the nutritional, symbolic and economic roles of food and beverages.
