The design of biodegradable antimicrobial packaging requires the retention and the controlled release of the active compounds as well as the attention on the alterations in the organoleptic properties that can cause consumers rejection. Therefore, objectives of the study were the determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration in the vapour phase, vapour antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, a better understanding of the storage conditions and inoculum size on the efficiency.
