Sažetak:
Psychosomatic symptoms in adolescents reflect the process of adolescents adaptation to the new schooling terms - transfer situation. This study analyses the occurrence of psychosomatic symptoms, perception of stress and its frequency, and the possible role of gender differences in transfer situation. 266 students, age 15, have been included in the research. We used The Pennebaker's Inventory of Limbic Languidness (The PILL) for measuring psychosomatic symptoms, Cohen’s global measure of perceived stress and Krapic’s questionnaire of stressors frequency for evaluating the perception of stress at the beginning of the school year and six months later to compare the results according the time progress. Results show more psychosomatic symptoms in adolescents of both genders (p<.001) six months later than at the beginning of the school year. Symptoms of vegetative nervous system are the most frequent. The girls show more psychosomatic symptoms in both measurements, but the difference between girls and boys is statistically significant (p<.05) only at the beginning of high-school education. Stressfulness of transfer situation is confirmed by increased perception of stress and its frequency in all the adolescents ; frequency of stresses is more intensive in the girls than in the boys (p<.05). Faced with the new school and new unknown experiences, adolescents perceive the transfer process stressful and respond by displaying psychosomatic symptoms. It could be seen as an adolescent's effort to „solve the problem“ with adaptation using psychosomatic symptoms as specific defense mechanism – the defense through body.
