Experimental investigation of a turbulent jet from two opposed radial ceiling diffusers
Investigation of the turbulent air jet that issues from the radial vortex ceiling diffuser is conducted. CTA method is used for measurements of the flow in the zone of the merged jet that is formed by interaction of two opposed air jets from adjacent ventilation diffusers. Merged jet flows directly towards the occupied space and represents important zone for the assessment of thermal comfort. Literature search has identified lack of information on characteristics of a merged jet in ventilation applications, such as air velocity and turbulence intensity distribution, as the key draught parameters in the merged jet zone. Valuable experimental data for spread coefficient, air velocity and turbulence intensity distribution, location of virtual origin and location of the self-similarity zone, is collected and analyzed.
